Spring has sprung. If you are thinking of selling your home, there are a few things you can do to prepare your home for potential buyers. Here are a few of our favorites:

Declutter, declutter, declutter: if you are like me, I have drawers full of my children’s art projects from school. While I love my children dearly, keeping every single piece of colored paper they have drawn, colored or scribbled on resulted in exploding drawers of paper. I finally bought a large plastic container and saved their artwork in there. And, yes, I did throw away a few of those drawings. Remember: keep what you absolutely need, the rest can be disposed of or even donated.

Let their be light: open up your blinds, windows, shades and let that sunshine shine bright like a diamond. It not only brightens up your home but it makes it look bigger and more welcoming.
Make it smell good: the last thing you want is for a potential buyer to come into your home and smell last night’s roast beef or your child’s soccer cleats. Clean it up, remove that dust, light a fresh scented candle—appeal to the buyer’s sense of smell.
Set the stage: put away personal belongings and let your inner Martha Stewart come out to play. Whether it is a few throw pillows on your couch, flowers in your empty vase or touching up your walls, make sure you set the stage. You want the buyer to picture themselves and their family in your home.
It is all about appealing to the senses and drawing the buyer in. Ask yourself, what would you want to see in your dream home? That will help you as you prepare to sell your home.
